Ear Piercing Care

Dr. Jain offers ear piercing to infants and children, 4 months of age and older. Ear piercing is only available after their second set of vaccines. Our fee is due at the time of appointment and includes ear piercing with a set of titanium earring, ear care solution, and pocket mirror. Front office staff can relay pricing.

Safety in Ear Piercing
When piercing the skin, there is always a risk for infection. At BrightStarts Pediatrics, our sterilized Medical Grade Titanium pierced earring studs are the best choice for those who may have metal allergies or sensitive skin. They provide maximum comfort and healing.

Caring for your Pierced Ears

Congratulations on your newly pierced ears!

  • WASH your hand well with antibacterial soap before you clean or touch your new piercing.
  • CLEAN the front and back of piercing twice a day by applying the ear care solution provided.
  • CHECK earring back to insure that the tip is covered and that the back is not pushed flush against the ear.
  • ROTATE the earring a few times forward and backward to insure the ear care solution works its way into the piercing.
  • BE sure not to fully rotate the earring, this can cause the hair to wrap around the post.
  • BE careful with your new piercing in pool, hot tub, or lake. Protect piercing with waterproof bandage.
  • LEAVE your new piercing earrings in for at least 6 weeks before removing them. For the first 6 months post earrings should be worn to ensure the piercing size stays perfect.
  • WHAT IS NORMAL? You may experience some bleeding, redness, soreness, bruising, and mild pain at first; however this will subside. During the healing process some itching, oozing of whitish-yellow fluid and crusting is normal. Pus is not.
